Bricklayers Arms

Bricklayers Arms
Once a thriving pub in Hallgate, now in a terrible state vandalised with fly posters. Inset shows the pub some 100yrs ago.

This is going to be turned into a hostel for homeless people. How long before it full of scroungers, druggies, and all sorts of people not wanted in Wigan

I know a few open pubs with that clientelle Harold.

Sad to see our old pubs like this - especially in the town centre where you'd think they'd be viable.

So it will be exactly the same as when it was still open then!

In the late ninties there were more drug dealers in that pub than there were in every other pub in Wigan put together.

It makes a change that Wigan council are actually keeping the building more or less intact, they usually flatten them and build something thats neither use nor ornament.
