Oh my lord, I remember my grandma having a mangle and a scrubbing board like those, washing day must have been a nightmare. Great Photo
monday washing day blues when mum hung the clothes on a maiden round the fire to dry and you came in from school in the middle of winter shivering you just had to shiver
Where was Lymm/Boundary St, my grandma or Mother Rooney as we used to call her lived on Darlington St. East, is that anywhere near,My grandmas name was Rooney
Go back to where Darlington St. East starts and Darlington St. ends i.e the traffic lights. Turn left as if going to lower ince. The fist street on your left (which isn't there anymore) was Lymm St., Boundary St. was the next street on your left still just about there. Boundary St. was also the last street before the canal.
It looks like the lady is using a "posser" which was made of copper and shaped like a bell with holes around the bottom. These were posher than the old wooden dolly with 3 legs. My mother always used a dolly, but Grandma Bradshaw had a posser.
