This Fort is near where the Channel Tunnel emerges. As the War ended it was used by the British as a V.R.D.(Vehicle Return Depot)and held about 500 vehicles & 80 motor-cycles. The work force was 12 German POWs and the Loyals supplied a night guard until everything was sold off by auction. Top right photo' shows the road South to Boulogne taken from the watch tower above the entrance. the straight line is the edge of this tower.

The area in view from the watch tower of the fort is now built up, with a massive Auchan supermarket on the right of the road.

Hi Eric, did you have to count the vehicles on parade every morning to see if any had been sold on the black market.

The black market stuff left via the North gate under the black building on the left, ie, petrol & tyres, or so I was told. E.T.
