I remember it well, when you walked in through the front door there was a small snug on the right...occupied by Joe MacFarlane and his friends. You could buy and sell owt there.
I think you could say it was rougues pub.Next to the pub was a passageway which ran down to Station road,(what was that called?)then the chaple, and then another passage to Whalleys pet shop, next was the chippy, owned by the guy who won the lottery, then the entrance to Mr M's,followed by another gap leading to the rear of the Green Curtain..another Joe Mac haunt........Memories!!!!!!!

used to go in the ship every weekend in early 60s , the glasswork round the bar was beautiful , i supposed it just got thrown away when the pub was " modernized " . Iused to drink with an oldish bloke called john , i think he had a few ladies working for him , it could be a rough old pub at times but full to the brim with characters .

my mother in law used to tell tales of the ship , about women who were ladies of the night and they had their price 10 shillings written on the soles of their shoes so the men could see itas they crossed their legs and lift their foot up.
