Shows where the mile post used to be - and the location of its present site at Lane Ends.
Ron Hunt posted a pic of the mile post in 2011 (see 17845) - the comments then reported both its loss, and its recovery in 2012. I had imagined that, when it was taken, it was from its original site, and would simply have been standing in the soil at the roadside , making it relatively easy to uproot and take away - but Ron's pic shows it was even more deeply embedded in concrete than it is now.

I see Yew Tree Farm on the map, the 3 maiden aunts Polly, Sarah & Annie must have lived somewhere by the farm.

It seems it had been moved before - the 1893 OS map shows it directly in front of Yew Tree Farm whereas by 1910 it's shown 120 odd metres further up the road.
