Wigan Album

Eeh that brought back memories ,I was there.my dad played cornet in the band and had taken me along.I remember being quite put out when they announced North Ashton Band as the winners and booing quite loudly only to be told off by Mr Naylors (the conductor) daughter because it was my dad's band that won.Oh no it's isn't said I my dad plays for Downall green Band.(I was only four or five at the time.)

I played here in the circus ring at Blackool Tower when we won 1st prize - My mam (Lilian Goulding cheered so much her false teeth flew out, luckily she caught them immediately!!!
When we got home that night, to Downall Green, the Band marched & played down Rectory Rd at a late hour (I can't see that being allowed in this day & age) The Folk of the Village loved it and cheered us on - Happy Days
