A visit to my Father's coincided with the Standish Carnival being held. Standing at bottom of Moss Grove we could watch the floats go past. Looking towards Church Street with Annie Park's shop across the road.

Barrie ...is that THE Annie Parks of the sherbet lemon fame stood in the doorway? It's always nice to put a face to the name ...I feel I know her after the 'suspect' debate!

I think thats her stood to the right of the doorway with the glasses on if my memory serves me right. Shop frontage is just how I remember it to be

I worked in Richardson's Chemists in High Street when it first opened, 1970-1974, and I remember Annie's shop well.

Winnie,
The 1977 Queen would be crowned after the procession.

I suspect the vehicle is a Ford Transit pickup.

Quite right, Mk1 Ford Transit. Good for these jobs at the time. I Think 'elf and safety might have something to say about using them today. The lady sitting outside Annie Parks' looks like a lady who lived to the bottom of Grove Lane. She had calipers on her legs and was always very cheerful and happy. I think her name was Linda. Does anyone remember her ?
