The Queen inspects a guard of honour at Wallgate, Wigan - the guard is mounted by members of the Duke of Lancaster's Own Yeomanry who the Queen in the Colonel-in-chief, the visit took place on the 20th June 1977.

I remember this too! I was at the Deanery at the time and we all lined up along Market St waiting for the Queen to go by, all waving our union jacks!

I was part of the DLOY guard of honour on that day and was proud to represent Wigan. Is there any way to get a copy of the original photo, i will pay for it

Hi, I was part of the guard, most memorable was the Saturday and the Sunday we had in the barracks prior to parade.(Enough said) Dave Keegan from Abram

Yes, I was there as well, but my boots were insufficiently polished, so I was an Army "helper" for the day, which was great fun, mixing with the crowds. I was given the task of brushing the carpet on the rostrum, with a scrubbing brush! It was all that was available.

Iam on the photo second row on the end it was a proud day to be part of the guard of honour
