The man accompanying her looks very much like the Earl of Derby, who was Lord Lieutenant of Lancashire at this time.

You could be right, Mick but I thought The Lord Lieutenant would have been in uniform. I also considered the Chief Constable of Wigan Borough Police, but he too was likely to be in uniform. Who knows?

Aubrey/Mick. Comparing other photographs of the Earl of Derby. It is very much like him, as he would have appeared at that time.
