One of my earliest recollections is my mother, unfurling the Union Flag, when we lived in Spring View, and putting it out of the front bedroom window, for the King, and Queen's visit, on this occasion

I can just make out a copy of Orwells "Road to Wigan Pier" about to be given to Madge by the Mayor!! LOL
