Having researched the Wigan Spitfire the attached photo is from a painting I did showing how she looked prior to being shot down over St Omar by Oberleutnant Schimd of Stab/JG26.
The pilot Rudolf Ptacek did claim a Bf109 prior to this.
Having escaped capture and returning to England in January 1942 he unfortunately lost his life on another mission on the 28th March 1942
This painting was on display in the Standish library in 2010 for the 70th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain

That's fantastic John. It captures the speed and beauty of the Spitfire wonderfully and it is a timely reminder of the heroism and sacrifices made for all of us.
