In the phot is Ken Gill playing tenor drum and Roy Brookes carrying the Queen's Colour. Looks like Mr F Brown (used to be involved with Wigan RL and lived in Lorne Street) standing on the pavement

ronits funny how we always seem to remember where every chippie stood.i remember that one on wallgatewhere goerdon fords is now.think it had georgian pillars in front and good scoff.

Just noticed. I have put a photograph of me in a St. Catherines walking day parade taken c 1950 on the site a few years ago, and this photo. is taken in exactly the same place, and at the same walking day. Check out the big guy and the woman stood next to him with glasses. They are both on both photographs. What a coincidence

Smashing photo. The Roy Brookes I remember was a little older, as I joined the BB sometime in the mid 60s. I have nothing but the fondest memories of being in the BB. And also, that shop would become my mum's chippy Anne's Fish & Chips when we lived there from 64 to 74. Best wishes everybody. (And my bedroom is just out of shot).
