Too easy Tony! Yes it's Rhyl Tom. I also got sick of Rhyl beating us in the F.A.Cup 4th Qual Rd! This match was a league game and we won 5-2.

Re rhyl cup ties we drew 1-1 at springfield i think peter higham scored with a header in last few mins.the other cup tie we collected money for guy falkes to raise train fare. they ran a special from wigan north western alas we lost again.great times Ivor do you remember Pat Murphy managing latics?

Tom I remember the cup games very clearly.I bunked off school for the replay (afternoon game of course). Higham scored again but we lost in extra time. Pat Murphy was the manager for that one year I think.
The following year (1960, Prescott scored in the first minute but we still only drew.(I didn't risk going again!) Amazingly, that year (1960) we started in the F.A.Cup preliminary round because we had failed to get past the 4th Qual in the previous two years. Hard times!

Ivor i went to Southport when we beat them in the fa cup

Ivor i went to Southport when we beat them in the fa cup with goals from Bernard Banks & Ted Buckle,Jack Arkwright our goalie pole axed there player manager Stan Mortensen, i think there was 14,000 on that day. Next round we played Charlie Mittens Mansfield drew 1-1 at Springfield, and lost the replay with Forsythe missing a penalty for us.I did not go to the replay. We also lost at Springfield to Goole town in the cup 2-0 a chap named Handley scored both there goals a few years before the Southport game.

The home match against Rhyl in the Fourth Qualifying Round was memorable, We had lost 1 - 0 away the season before and this time we battered them but went 1- 0 down again. In the very last minute a corner came across from the right to the edge of the penalty box and Peter Higham from the edge of the 'D' did an overhead bicycle kick straight into the top corner. The Rhyl goalkeeper never moved. If there had been TV it would have gone round the world. Ronaldo hasn't score better and one of the greatest goals I've ever seen. It was half-term for the reply and we went on the train to Rhyl on 5 November but unfortunately we lost the replay. We had a spell when we just couldn't beat them in Cup Games and seems to play them three or four years on the trot.

Keith , Peter Higham is my grandad, he's still kicking at 93 pardon the pun. I'll let him know what you thought about his goal, he's rightfully quite proud of his overhead scissor kicks to this day! If you'd like a signed pic let me know and I'll get one sent out for you! He'd be made up
