I think the photo was taken from near where Iceland is now. It took me a while to remember how the roads used to be round there.
If you'd have turned right at Kitchen Queen it would have taken thee past the old drill hall on the right then down to wigan rufc on the right, nice mk 5 cortina

Taken from junction of Standishgate/Dicconson St, looking towards junct. Standishgate/Powell St. Old Co-op emporium on corner of Powell St.

The car is a Mk4 Cortina 1.6L on a W plate which suggests 1981 or later
