My husband and I both remember Nat Bentham. He lived in Orrell Gardens at Orrell Post. He had a paper round and also sold papers in the Railway Station at Orrell. He was a very plesant person, well known and well liked.
I wonder if he was a long distant relative becuse one of my Great Great Great Grand fathers changed his name from Betham to Robinson, he did something naughty and changed his name, my grandad did not really speak because it used to upset him
this is a picture of my grandfather. Raymond was my father.
Nat was a neighbour of mine, he lived at No 4 Orrell Gardens while I was in No 10. I was a contemporary of his son Raymond.
He gave me a rugby memento of his as a gift when I graduated as a medical doctor in 1972. He said to me "Whenever you look at this you will remember "Owd Nat". Yes I do, with fond memories.
Christine Bentham McIntyre, if you see this please contact me by email. I was a friend (a long time ago) of both your grandfather and your father.
This is my great grandfather. I was born in America as my 2 brothers were. He has a great great grandson who just started playing American football his first season in 2021
