Ray Fletcher(middle),Andy Butler(right)and i think the lad to the left is Dave Cross,this picture was taken i think in the early eighties.

Fantastic referee, quite rightly highly regarded. Much better than Bennett and Dowd etc who seem to have a dislike of Wigan Athletic!

YES RAY WAS A SUPER REF. BUT DON'T FORGET HE WAS ALSO AN EXCELLENT REFEREE,S INSTRUCTOR. HE NEW THE LAWS OF THE GAME BETTER THAN ANYONE, GREAT LAD.

IT IS definitely Steven Melling he was one of my mates at Gidlow school better ref than footy player but great lad Ray was a terrier of football player played with him at goose green LC but I think Dave Smith was the best local ref

the ref in the middle was also a brilliant singer ,he used to gene Pitney songs with jimmy Gordon on piano in the railway pub on billinge rd
