Edge Green was a hamlet, half a mile from Bolton Road, along Golborne Road, part in Ashton and part in Golborne.

You're right, Hanson, but do you know why it's called Edge Green? Frank Jameson told us, years ago, that the green was on the 'edge' of the Legh and Gerard's estates. I don't know if there's any truth in that. Frank might have made it up.
