My grandparents ran The Star in the 1950s/60s. Their surname was Gregson. I visited regularly and remember the rambling rooms upstairs. There was also an old barn which we (my sister and I) were not permitted to go into but did! There was a fierce large stuffed bear inside if you ventured upstairs. Don't remember much about the pub. My memories are of the living quarters.

Ancestors ran the pub in the late 1800’s. Can anyone give precise location position. Not in Ashton myself.

I remember Julian very well my Dad played darts same team although older than Julian and John lived on Wigan Road and raced greyhounds, I used to walk them for him
