This is 113 years ago. Merthyr Tydfil in South Wales is a long long way to come even now. God knows how the team got to Wigan and how long it took in 1907.
Mr X, It would have been a train journey, just as it was in 1888. After playing Wigan on the Monday, the Maori touring team, met Llanelli on Wednesday of the same week.
answer for Mr X. By train i would imagine, and mosk likely a lot faster than To-day.
There were about half a dozen Welsh teams joined the Northern Union at that time. No doubt travelling was one of the reasons they left.
One half there of what my Grandad (who was born in 1881) called a 'sublime threequarter line' . The legendary Leytham,Jenkins, Todd and Miller.
Pete, you're quite right. Miller joined Wigan less than a month after this match and Todd the following season all contributing to Wigan's great success thereafter.
My wife's great uncle third from right, back row,Dick Ramsdale.
