They caught the rain as well judging by the state of their hair. Duffle coat, Grandads' cloth caps, a three-piecer in a soggy hold-all, Reginald with the 'major award' and Colgate smiles all round. A great 1960 for the lads. But 600!
I was the fourth member of the team but went straight home after the "ALL OUT"as I hadn't caught anything. Only to be given a cup on Monday at school by Fred Laithwaite who was in my year.
I bet Reg could do a great Norman Wisdom impression.
I wonder if Fred Laithwaite ended up living in Laithwaite Road, Worsley Hall estate?
Fred lived in Ince Green Lane and worked at Gullicks.
He was a very good angler even in later life.
Do you know where Fred lives now?
Freddie lived in longshoot scholes went to st georges school
blast from the past, not seen Reg for 40+ years.
Fred lived in last house topside of halfmoon in Ince Green Lane last I knew. Fished with Fred at club level and for Wigan Match Group at regional level in winter and super league. As Zoonie says a very good angler throughout
Three very happy lads, pity you missed it Ron.
1955 I think it was ,won a prize at the red rock canal for Gidlow School .I got only one fish.
Reg is my dad. I'd recognise those ears anywhere . Still going strong.
