Photo taken in 1862 of a cricket match on the Mesnes before it became Mesnes Park.
I've been told this could have been the first outdoor photograph taken in Wigan. Perhaps someone will know different?

I've thumbed such scenes as this, on later 1930s 'Ciggys', and now decide upon which will give me most: a leap ahead into the Mesnes, or a favoured seat upon which to muse - perhaps with rhyme - anyone sat here, Albert?
