I remember my dad taking me,we got in free because my dad was on duty with the St Johns ambulance,i remember they give you a stick of Wigan rock when you went in.

Ron. I remember them originally being down Springfield way. Did they have a separate location at Poolstock, or did they take over at the greyhound stadium?. Wasn't it the noise that residents objected to?. So many years ago.

There were two speedway teams. WIGAN PANTHERS who rode at WOODHOUSE LANE TRACK and WIGAN WARRIORS who rode at the POOLSTOCK TRACK Both of the tracks were also used to race Greyhounds. I can remember going to Woodhouse Lane with my mum and dad, must have been late 1940's or early 1950's. I also remember going with my dad to watch Wigan Rugby play at Belle Vue and we stayed on to watch the Speedway in the evening after the game again must have been late 1940's or early 1950's a would only have been around 5 or 6
