Wigan Album

A good drawing from the time! It would be interesting to determine who the artist was....looks like the signed initials are AEY with a monkey symbol.
I seem to recall that drawings like this of Wigan rugby league club, hung in Tom Brown's Park Hotel!

My Grandfather used to regale us of that Wigan threequarter line;

Leytham,Jenkins, Todd and Miller.

There seems to be more action and liveliness in a drawing compared to a photograph! Especially the three playing 'hands,knees and bumps-a-daisy'! the artist would most likely have done thumbnail sketches and then proper drawings afterwards presumably. I don't suppose photography would have caught the action in those days. I like the drawings very much as there is so much detail in them ....even the facial expressions. Also the one covered in 'slutch'! How come he is the only one who got dirty?
