Pity about their condition, though.
It would be 12 long years before floodlights were to be installed at Springfield Park. And a further 12 years before the club were finally accepted into the football league. Say what you want about Dave Whelan, but he had a vision...And they would eventually win the sacred trophy...in style.

It snowed that day, not a lot, but enough to make snowballs. I was 13 and at Thomas Linacre School and well remember in the dinner hour, throwing snowballs at the Newcastle supporters as they walked past. We must have been the original 'football yobs', lol.
