The winning team Wembley 1985 how many of you went

I was there. Mind you we were living in watford at the time so it was an easy trip. Nevertheless it turned out to ne of the most memorable days ever. My dad came down from wigan and it turned out to be the last Final we would se togather. Also I had not ever seen Wigan win at Wembley before. I had been there in 1966, 1970 and 1984 to see them lose. My wife still mentions it to people as when I got home that night I had lost my voice through all the cheering and shouting. Great day.

I didn't go but watched it on TV with my daughter. I was very concerned for my dad who along with my husband made the trip. Dad was recently widowed and I was anxious he should take his heart tablets on what was a long day. When my husband got back home I asked if dad had taken his medication. Washed down with beer said my hubby. Dad said it was the one day he hadn't missed his wife of 40 years. Rugby is a great comforter especially if your team wins!

Yes it does Saints, 75 is my age. Does 1988 to 1995 ring any bells ? Seven consecutive Wembley wins, which included a good 27 - 0 thrashing of your outfit.

Jonno, nice one shut him up ,any stuffing of Scousers is a good day for a Wigan fan.

My brother-in-law and nephew were both born in St Helens. Neither of them consider themselves scousers.

Yes I was there greatest final I have ever seen at Wembley. Looking at the team photograph is it just a coincidence but both gentlemen at each end of the middle row are no longer with us. Keith Mills on the left and Derek (taffy) Jones on the right. Also remember the homecoming.

Sorry Saints, i must apologize, i got it wrong, EIGHT years on the trot not 7.

What a homecoming that year. My youngest son was born on 7 May that year and we took my other two children to Central Park to watch the team. Going in at the cop end with the turnstiles closed, I had to climb over them. Will never forget that day All his young life until he was 7 or 8, Wigan held that trophy.

Saints beat us last season ?? we beat ourselves that day, 12 men for 88 mins and we should STILL have won. No, Leeds didn't 'smash' us this season, YOU know as well as i do that Leeds got every bit of help available including the ref, they HAD to win. Who was our coach on that day in 2005 to which you first referred?? a Saints discard, the worst coach we have ever had, how long did he last ? 12 games, won 3 lost 9.

I have been watching Wigan since 1967 and by far the worst most bitter supporters are from St Helens.
When Wigan were winning everything in the 80's and early 90's there was no gloating we just enjoyed it after years of rubbish teams and false dawns, as soon as St Helens win a few matches and trophies they think they are the best team ever, don't think so.
Keep your comments for your own website,St Helens World if you have one, again I don't think so.

It's not difficult to work out who this "Saints" moron is. He's always posting about his admiration for them, especially since his "We truly are the people" mantra has had to dry up.

I agree with saints. Wigan live in past. Look at saints super league record to wigans. You just hate St. Helens I'm a wiganer who watches without blinkers on 😇
