Wigan Album

Signed for Wigan 1913, a scrum half who played 10 years for Wigan. Son of the then Wigan Trainer J Hesketh and brother to Tom Hesketh, who formerly was a well known Wigan referee, Landlord of the Park Hotel and Wigan Director, a position George himself took up after his playing days were over. Played against Wigan in the 1924 RL Cup Final at Rochdale when Wigan won the Cup for the first time.

Correction - I do write rubbish at times - of course Tom Hesketh was his brother, a well known Wigan referee and like George a Wigan Director BUT he was NOT the Landlord of the Park Hotel, that was Tom Brown, who was also a Wigan Director. Sorry for the mis-information.
