Wigan rugby team winners of the West Lancashire Cup 1884-85 season. Line up thought to be: Samuels, Ingham, Holt, Astle, Slevin, Presst, Rutter, Dawber, Murphy, Webb, Thomas, Crowshaw, Baguley, Layland,Norris, Marsden and Anderton.
James Slevin was my great grandfather, my grandmother being margaret Bell, nee Slevin, who later lived at Haigh and Euxton. Is there any way of getting a copy of this photograph.

The Cup wasn’t the West Lancashire Cup in 1884/85 as we did not win it til much later in 1890. The competition wasn’t around then.
I believe it to be the Wigan Charity Cup after defeating Haigh 1885, our second triumph. The medals worn are if worn thrice 2 gold (pagefield and Haigh win) 1 silver (loss to Aspull).
