Wigan lad Roy Thornley ( on the left ) on his Debut for Huddersfield RLFC November 1957 at Fartown.
Now bear in mind he signed for the club the previous day after doing a night shift down the pit!
I don't know the other player on the right but this was his debut also. I uploaded this as I read a thread on WW today about Mick Sullivan.
Mick was transferred to Wigan from Fartown for a record fee of £9,500. A lot of money in those days! My late father and the other gentleman were signed with the proceeds. And Huddersfield still had few grand left to play with!
May be if Jeff Slevin sees this photo he could enlighten me on the player on the right. My Dad and Jeff's dad played in the same team at Fartown.

Was jeff ted selvin brother he add the Bridgewater pub at the bottom of marsh green.

Ted Slevin had the Bridgewater.
Not sure who the player is but I will see if I can find out.

Ian - His name was Jim Clarke and he was from Warrington.

Ian - Jim died about 15 years ago - his three other brothers Peter, Douggie and Gordon all played pro rugby as well
