the player third from the right on the back row is billy banks.he ran the 'central' pub in pontefract in the 50's.his youngest brother charlie still drinks in the old liberal club on powell street in castleford.

Hi John mcneill, very interested to hear about "Billy" Banks but we knew him as George Banks who played 188 times for Wigan from 1936 to 1948, often in the same team as my father. Of course he may have had a middle name that I knew nothing about. He'd played for Dewsbury, Streatham and Mitcham and been capped for Yorkshire before joining Wigan in December 1936 from the London club. He had a long successful career.
