Maypole Officials Team, 1948. The person second from the left is my wifes grandfather... Frederick Waterhouse (d.1992). He was a fireman (a supervisor... I think) at Maypole Collery from 1940 - 1952. I have no idea who else in in the photograph.
The referee is my grandad Bill Green from Beech Hill

Dennis your wife's grandfather Fred Waterhouse was the nightshift overman down, NO 1 pit, at the Maypole. when I knew him he lived in Warrington Road, Spring View, three doors from Rushtons store, which was situated at the junction of Henry Street. I worked at the Maypole from 1949 to 1953, I then left the pit and joined the R A F. Best thing I ever did.
