Back row, far right-- looks like Roy Naylor, originally from Poolstock.
Played on that football pitch in the 1950's when I went to the Bluecat School in Hallgate. We got changed at school and walked there in our "knock in" studded boots, down Frog Lane and Prescott St then through the Bone Works. It's a wonder we could walk, let alone pay football by te time we got there. The pitch was just cinders then. Looks like there's a bit more grass on it at the time this photo was taken. No kid would pay on a surface like that these days.
Geoff Gregory, 2nd left front row.
Dave C, your description fits exactly with my recollection of playing there (for St Catherines) early 50's- it was a bewildering experience for 10 and 11 year old youngsters - however it did provide an unforgettable memory.
Front row first left, Johnny Cross. For some reason his name just came to me. My thanks to you for remembering names.
Back row 2nd left I think is Geoff Eastham.2nd from right, back row I think is Kenny Astin.
Back Row : 3rd Left , Harry Holden ?
3rd from left backrow looks like Tommy Winstanley. I think the team may be Poolstock
Sorry 3rd from right back row Tommy Winstanley
can't comment about the team photo guys, but the comments about the pitch (gallaghers) we all have in common. dave c, (mr. cockerill i think), our bluecoat teams home pitch, crazy ??luckily for me i lived in prescott st. so not far home for me. my worst memory of the pitch for me was xmas day with my new wolves kit on playing " 3 pots in " with my friend billy naylor, played by the touchline (swamp side) as there was a bit of grass for goalie to dive, my turn in goal ended with me being taken to hospital having my knee stitched up, yep great memories. believe it or not guys, i was down that end recently its been an industrial est; awhile now and was gobsmacked to see the old goalpost still standing at one end, took me back 50 years that did.....
Definitely Court school of dancing ttd.
