That area seems to have quite a steep slope for a rugby ground.

Quite right Kenee, I would imagine the field would have been placed at the bottom end of Folly Field (Eccleston Street side) running roughly north west to south east along its length, i.e. post to post, thus avoiding the big drop from the Earl street area.
