I had the privilege, along with my wife, of meeting Brian in New Zealand in 2007, I passed on my father's best wishes (they'd played in the same Wigan team) and and we enjoyed a delightful lunch at a local pub with him. He was still working as a practising lawyer, the oldest in New Zealand. While playing for Wigan, Brian had studied at Liverpool University and gained his Law degree but also gained a Liverpool wife. She pre-deceased him in NZ, sadly a few months after our return we learned of his passing - a fabulous player but an even greater gentleman.
