This was the scene at the opening of Wigan RUFC's new Douglas Valley ground on 1st September 1962 when Wigan took on the Lancashire Presidents XV.

Health and Safety would have a "field" day with that new building, no support rail on the steps and no balcony barriers.

colin's absolutely right, it would be an hospital job if someone fell or tripped off that building...I didn't think cowboy-builders were around then.

Joe must have built it, Colin's spot on!
The building regulators and the Health&Safety board should have had something to say, but Health&Safety was only formed in 1974. Other wise people wouldn't have been allowed in.
