Harry's
Harry's "nap hand"

In all the years of watching Harry, I don't remember an outstanding dribble or a 30 yard "screamer", but he was always in the right place in the penalty area! This is one of his typical poacher's goals when he scored five in this match.
(Please leave Harry in glorious black and white!)

That looks like the St Andrews Drive side of Springfield Park. If so why are Wigan the home team playing in white as opposed to their home colours of blue shirts? Great photo though. I agree with bluesfan. Ivor has put some cracking photos on here of the Latics in their non league days.

I'll leave him in lack and white Ivor as you've asked. But I do think that some people like to see them in colour, and you don't have to look at it if you don't "approve". There's room for both camps.

If colour photography had been available then we would be looking at a colour photo.

As far as wearing white is concerned, am I right in supposing this is an FA Cup tie, when the norm was for both teams to change?

Hi George, Don't get me wrong, I think the way you colorised the Latics' photos is excellent. It's just that I enjoy the photos as they were recorded at the time. Incidentally,it wasn't a cup tie, it was a league game.

Hi Ivor. No problem - I think we'll have to agree to disagree about adding colour. I'm not taking away the black and white image - it's still there to be admired. I just add colour for people who want to picture it differently. However, if you ask me not to do it then as it is your picture I'll abide by that.

However - you do have me intrigued as to what match it is. I can only assume, if it isn't a cup game, that the visitors had turned up without their second kit, and so Latics changed.

Judging by the tones if I was colouring this I'd put them in blue, but maybe I'd be wrong :)

Put us out of our misery please!

Big soft cry babies like Hugo Rodulaga and Di Santo will never be in the same class as Harry even tho he was only a non-league player a center foward is all about scoring goals and H could certinly do that not like these modren day non-enterties,a tue true latics legend.

You're causing me some extra work George, as I'd never thought about the white strip! I found an old programme from the 1964-65 season. It was in fact a cup game, probably in the Cheshire League Cup against Frickley Colliery. I can only think that as the home team always had piority for colours, Frickley came with just a blue strip and so Latics played in their second choice strip.
(sorry if it's a repeat e-mail, computer problem!)
