That's my Grandad 2nd right. It was me who put that photo on the forum. Thanks for doing that George. It's amazing what a bit of colour does. I didn't know that was the colours that Highfield played in.
That's great How did you do it?
Thanks for putting that great photo up.
Yes - Highfield wore yellow and blue, and later when they became Liverpool Stanley they wore yellow with a blue hoop.
The year would have been either 1922, 1923 or 1924. Those were the years in which Jerry Shea, seen here wearing the Wigan jersey, played against Wigan Highfield away from home, Wigan won all three games.

Use Photoshop - but it takes some practice. Happy to try any old photos, but some just aren't up to standard, and there is a school of opinion which doesn't think old pictures should be colourised. Each to their own.
Hehe, the chappy in the middle has one coloured leg and one black and white leg.....
Hehe! That's Photoshopping for you - there is a photo I did many years ago of a Latics photo that the club often use in programmes without any acknowledgement - I think by now it has been accepted as originally being a colour photo. But in that there is also a slight error. I know where it is, so I can always know that's my work :)
However, to be honest I didn't notice this one. But - if you've spotted that maybe you need to get out even more than I need to :)
Best wishes
It is possible that it is a knee bandage.
More likely it's where I've forgotten to colour it.
I did a knee bandage on another picture at http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/ultimatewigan/images/city-v-saints-1966.jpg, and that I added a slight yellowish tinge. I hate to leave any part of a colourised picture original gray.
Thanks for the potential opt-out clause, Ken - but in truth I just missed it :)
George, I do hope no offence was caused by my comment, I was simply commenting on what I noticed. I also think that having an observant eye has nothing to do with getting out more often.......

No offence taken at all - and similarly I sincerely hope that none was taken by my comment. It's me that needs to get out more :) I've just read back what I wrote and it does seem a tad off - so, sincere sorry!
I too (usually) have an observant eye, particularly with my own pics - and once I've noticed an error I think everyone else will see it glaringly obviously. They rarely do.
If I do post any others and you spot an errotr - then by all means tell me.

You do great work with these photos, it's really very clever and interesting.
