We played in Wigan Amateur League based at Whelley Legion - team was managed by Terry Grindley and players I can remember included Ronnie Hunter, Brian (Twinny) Pearson, Dave Wyke, Alan Austin, Peter Eccleston, Malc Haury and Colin Melling. This photo was on semi final day at St Pats - we lost - nearest we came to winning anything!
Is that John Fox in the goalkeepers shirt?

we played at the shovel and broom in ince norman segwick started to play for us and took us to the legion the legion bought us kit and nets that was the start of legion
Started in 1972 after leaving school. Soon learned how to jump high! Some legends were Dave Eastham,Barry Topping and Steve Rudd. Played for next 13 years with stalwarts such as Alan Austin, George Whalley, Colin Roper, Bob Doran and the rest of the Eastham Family. Colin Melling used to have a pie and a pint before every game - guess which one he is! After playing on those pitches for so long I've needed 2 new hips. Hope you're all ok lads. Some great times.
