Gullick's cricket ground about 1989. Harry The Chair poised to receive and Bungle at the non-striker's end. The opposition bowler's run up started on the car park so it was probably Wigan Unionists.
The embankment in the distance hides the Amberswood open cast with the 'flooded line' of the Wagon Works away to the right, Gullick's Dev Shop to left and the then still operational Springs Branch line behind. There was talk at one time of using the line to load chocks directly out of the factory.

Very sad...where has it all gone, you know when companys close ie the NCB, it not only just involves the pits but many other good firms aswell. What will they do when oil and gas runs out I wonder.
