Winger/Centre. Played 123 times for Wigan and scored 102 tries.Brown had been on the 1926/27 NZ tour of Britain.Three of the tourists,Lou Brown, Len Mason and Benny Davidson returned fron New Zealand and signed for Wigan in the Summer of 1927.Lou Brown transferred to Halifax in the Autumn of 1930 for £500 where he proved pivotal to their success.(He was controversially omitted from their Wembley winning team of 1931)

After his playing career was over Lou fell seriously ill (I believe it may have been cancer) the Wigan Club paid for his fare home to New Zealand. Not long after returning to New Zealand on 31st October 1946, sadly Lou passed away. Nevertheless it was a magnanimous gesture by the Wigan Club and it allowed Lou to die at home.
