The first ever home Cheshire League game played by Wigan Rovers attracted an amazing crowd of 5,174 . The game kicked off at 7pm due to Wigan Rugby also playing at home . The scorers for Rovers in the superb 4-1 win were Porter ( 15 & 37 ) Horan ( 47 ) and Barker ( 61 ) . The Congleton scorer was Wilson ( 84 ). The Cheshire League was considered a higher league then the Lancashire Combination in which Wigan Athletic were playing .... hard to imagine now , with the two Wigan Football Teams being light years apart !
