looks like Bill Ashurst head to head with Malcolm Reilly - both brilliant players who later found success in Australia - a terrible final only remembered for Hepworth's savage attack on Colin Tyrer

This comment is for folk interested in Wigan Rugby History.If you google Yorkshire Film Archive,then search 1940s there is a B/W series of films including the 1944 Challenge Cup Final between Wigan and Bradford.
