wigan fans at wallgate station 1940 ish not sure of the year but i belive it was a match between wigan and wakefield maybe a wembley match

What a great photo.
People were poorer then but good grief you can tell from this photo that they had so much more dignity than we have today.

Surely this is Wigan North Western, not Wigan Wallgate.

Brilliant picture! Yes it is Wigan North West, I remember it being like that when I was a lad, all tiles and tunnels inside too.

Was it taken from the teams open top bus or one of the buildings across from North West Station I wounder.

Looks like it may have been taken from an upstairs room in the then Victoria Hotel.

If it is a Rugby photo why are most of the crowd women, in work clothes?
