it looks like bill walsh, who was at the WGS when I was there in 1945. His dad had the grocers shop in Pemberton and this was made into Kelleys off licence later on.Bill went to work for Reckitt and Coleman and now lives in Yorkshire

I think you are spot on with Billy Walsh as i recall my Aunty Edna telling me his name.
Kelly's are my Aunty Lilian and Uncle Gerard, my mum was Martha Belshaw and the shop belonged to my Nana before selling it to Aunty Lilian.
John, give me a call on email, my great grandma was ann bradshaw and her husband, john was killed in the 1877 explosion at blundells coll.bill walsh was my 2nd cousin.
John, have you got in touch with my cousin Fred Foster? There is not much he doesn't know about our family history.
I vaguely remember the shop in question, up on the left hand side, coming from Wigan...some way past the Carnegie Library ?
