When I was a lad... I was never short of a pushbike! My Uncle Tommy was the reason, he was always tinkering with old bikes in the shed behind the house! I once took a bike to him to fix a puncture... he did not have time, so he gave me another bike!
Some of you from Platt Bridge will remember him, he was one of the 'true' last rag'n'bone men to ply the streets. He enjoyed a pint as well! My Aunt Monica kept him firmly in line however... hard as nails she was, but at the same as soft as... well... you get the picture!
