Wigan Album

This fun loving couple are parents to my mother's mother, Mary Alice Houghton (nee Foot).Great Grandad came from Somerset. They lived at what was always referred to as "The Old Home", a tiny cottage and small holding to the south of Cale Lane opposite the end of Ash Lane where this photograh was taken. The Kirkless Works ("Top Place") chimney is clearly visible. I have fond memories of playing for hours in this garden in the late 1950's when the house was inhabited by their daughter my Great Auntie Elsie and her husband Harry Gould.
