Is this the john rooney who did a lot off work in the church later, and lived round Darlington street?
Mike, I could be wrong but I think the John Rooney you are thinking of lived in Walmsley St. he used to be an altar boy at S't Patricks church. Having said that The above John Rooney did live in Darlington St. and so did his father who was John Rooney also, but I do think they were dostant cousins.
Thanks a lot joan you are right it was the other john Rooney I was thinking about thanks for your help
I looked after John in his later years he was a nice man
Was this man related to Mary hurst the mother of Carol, he is the spitting image of her!
Yes they were cousins, hope you don't mind me asking who vb is
Hello I was a playmate of Carol Hurst. All through my childhood we played together. I am Veronica Catterall as was! I knew the family very well I believe Carol lives in France now I haven't seen her for years. It was Peter who told me about her living there. I remember her Mum and Janey Dyke very well it was lovely to see these photos. The family resemblances are remarkable. My dad was Bill he probably knew you dad.
I lodged at 3, Walmsley street over forty years ago now. The Landlord was John Rooney and he looks a lot like the picture. It was a transport accommodation place. Is this the same person and if so can anybody tell me when he died and what has happened to the business.
Kevin, this is not the John Rooney who lived in Walmesley St, I used to live at no 1 Walmesley St in the early 70s and I remember the John Rooney you knew no idea what happened to his business after he died.
