Photo of Peter Blond in the driving seat of a D type Jaguar. Peter was the owner of the sewing factory in Clayton Street. His family had been in the textile business for several years with a factory in Manchester. His father, marrying for the second time, wed Elaine Marks youngest daughter of the co founder of M & S Michael Marks.
Sadly Peter passed away two years ago from Covid at the age of 91.

Keith. There used to be a Blond factory on Gillibrands industrial estate in Skelmersdale. The same firm I presume?

That is not a Jaguar D-Type. It's a HWM manufactured sports car.

If someone posted a photo of Billy Boston, wearing a Wigan shirt, and said - "Billy Boston playing for St Helens" - would that be acceptable to you?
It's always better to be correct.

Bruce, are you connected with another person on the main forum who is obsessed with trivial detail and apparently takes great pleasure in correcting folk?

Boys, Boys please lower your tone and do not digress from the subject matter.
Please can we have some positive comments about Peter Blonds, I believe they made for M&S and had exacting standards like so many stitches per inch.
I am sure there are many out there that can relate there happy times in Clayton Street?

All those skilled sewing jobs now gone, Peter Blonds, Clifton Mill's, Coops etc. and shipped off to third world sweat shops.

My mum used to take me with her when she went buying stuff from Peter Blonds factory off Miry Lane. Nice to put a face to a name.
