In the churchyard of St Andrew's Church, Welsh Frankton, Shropshire lies the grave of Cllr. John l'Anson Cartwright, who was Mayor of Wigan in 1916-17. He came from nearby Ellesmere, and his father built the church - hence his wish to be buried there after his funeral at St Michael's, Swinley.
