Lovely photo Irene. It was quite a popular thing to do to have a photo taken in Blackpool. I remember the photographers on the front every few yards sometimes they had a monkey for you to pose with of all things! I remember the cutout figures for putting your head through as well.
Irene, as folks would say, you could cut your finger on your Colin's trouser crease.
I can't make out the model of the scooter, though I'm sure someone will know. There was always plenty of fun attractions to entice you to have your photo taken, I liked those funny ones you'd put your head through as you could have some fun with them, also some folk with cameras would take your photo when you were walking around, and no asking either, then they'd badger you to pay for it to be sent to your home address, sometimes they had a monkey to entice children to pose with it. There was also the many hats to choose from and buy, either a Cowboy or some other, the lady behind your brother is wearing a Chinese Coolie hat - they're different!
Folks in Shevvy go around wearing them.
That made me laugh Cyril! ;>)) These photos are more treasured really because they weren’t instant ones like today.
Not everybody had a camera and it was only at holidays or weddings that you could afford to splash out for professional photos. Great days out as the seaside and happy memories.
They were great days out.
It may be an early 1950s BSA Sunbeam scooter Irene, though I'm sure someone or an enthusiast will know for sure.
Lovely photo of your brother and his wife, Irene. Nice memories.xx
It’s a Zundapp Bella, produced from 1953 -1964 not the prettiest machine but would certainly fetch a pretty penny these days…..
Thanks D. Watts, I haven't heard of that make, but there was, according to Wiki, approximately 130,000 Zundapp scooters made. It was the badge that looked like a Helios that got me thinking of Sunbeam.
This is what makes wiganworld great, if you don't know what something is then ask wiganworlders - someone will know.
