Yes, this was on the "blind steps". I worked on Boots photographic counter and people were flocking in that day to have their photos of Oasis developed.
It was for a record sleeve Veronica, and was reported in the WEP.

Isn't this called Woodcock Walk now? After the local soldier who was awarded a VC, I can't recall if it had a name prior to this, it was as you put known as the blind steps. You could buy some really good stuff that was made in there, and it was good quality too made by folks who were blind.
Sorry Irene, you hadn't posted when I'd sent my comment, and it doesn't seem all that long ago, now it's taking photos on mobiles
I can only recall them as the ‘Blind Steps’ Cyril. Played on those steps many a time. There was quite a few steps such as these in that vicinity, steps always fascinated us. There was some stone steps at the end of Holland St that brought you out on Birkett Bank as well. Must be because it was a hilly area.
Cyril, it was just as mobile phones were becoming popular, (we actually sold them on the photo-counter in the Market Street shop), but it was when they just mainly did calls and texts, (as mine still does!). The all-singing, all-dancing ones that took photos and on which you could access the internet and do your banking were just waiting round the corner on the day when we developed the Oasis photos. Shortly afterwards we moved to the The Grand Arcade and camera- films quickly became few and far between ; developing and printing dropped dramatically and I was moved to an ordinary checkout till. I doubt Boots still have a "d and p" counter.
